FO: Abagail cardi

Well, this is a fun FO. It's been done for over a year. That was the first girlie cardi that I knit after I found that I was expecting a girl. As it turned out a bit bigger and not a newborn size as initially intended, it was put away. And completely forgotten about. Now it's too small for my little girl, but it's a good thing friends and family are also having kids, so this cardi is going to another little girl.

The pattern is a top-down version of Baby February Jacket, or at least very similar to it. Baby Boheme jacket has also a similar top-down construction, but this was by far a more pleasant knit.

Yarn used: Schoppel Wolle On-Touch, almost all of the two skeins. The yarn was the one meant for my sister's scarf.

Needles: 3.5mm circulars
Size: aimed at 0 (newborn), but with all accidental mods it's more of a size 6months, I guess.
Notes & mods: Somehow I messed up the count of the increases and ended up with 134 sts for the lace panel. Lucky me, that also worked with the pattern. As the body became wider this way, I added up three repeats of the lace panel to make the whole piece longer as well. When doing a single crochet border, I made the loops for the buttons.

lessons in colourwork

This was supposed to be the start of my swatch for the Grellow cardigan. I thought I did my homework regarding colour choice, but that was not good enough. I should have checked the hues. Eventhough the colours are different, the hues are not. This means that all the nice patterning is not noticeable. And the check for the hue is so easy and fast. Look below - unfit combination for colourwork.
