FO: Helene skirt

You might remember this skirt and the fact that I was inspired to knit one just like that for my little girl. Well, I did so back in April. The skirt is very fun to knit and I went with a solid version because I had a lovely Sweet Georgia Tough Love skein in china doll colourway that begged to become something sweet for a little girl. Had I went for a striped version, I would have had to knit it back and forth. Knitting it in the round was very simple and went really fast.

All of the modeled shots are "on the run". The non-blurred pictures make it look as if the skirt is too short in the back, but it really isn't. I realized only too late that the skirt was tucked at the back.

Those are slipped-stitch lines, but really, I could have kept it in plain knit stitch and it would've been prominent just as well.

Looking at this makes me want to cast on for a new colourful one straight away. You know, there's all this Wollmeise yarn...

my WIPs

I might be in a blogging slump, but I am surely knitting a lot. There are three WIPs on my needles right now, the socks pictured above are about to be finished. Then there's an almost finished Georgia cardi, I need to sew in only the remaining three buttons and block it. There are hardly any ends to weave in as I used Wollmeise lace for it. Lastly, I still have the color affection shawl in progress and am nearing the end section. I've been itching to start something new. I went to Wollmeise sale last week again (I know, I know, I didn't mention it at all, did I?) and I have lovely new yarn waiting to be knit up.

my little helper

My blocking board (well, technically it's her playmat that is being misused as a blocking board) is in use non-stop right now. The warm weather (sorry UK readers, we do have summer here) means that things are drying fast. And really it's too hot to even write up this post, so I'll leave you right here.

So what do I do if I have joined a KAL and need to move on with it? If I have a self-imposed deadline-knit for a certain birthday? Well sure I cast on for something new and knit exclusively on it.

It was Ysolda's birthday this week and just as each year she has a special discount only on that particular day. After I read her blog post about the discount, I spent the whole day wondering which pattern I meant to buy last year, but decided to wait. Then almost the very last minute I remembered it was Liesl. It is so easy, Malabrigo Rios is a pleasure to knit with. This will be done very soon.

FO: Different lines

Most of my latest FOs need reblocking for the FO shoot as they've been used a lot lately. There are well over 10 FOs that need to find their way into Ravelry and here on this blog. We had quite some heat round here, so this shawl was first used only yesterday.

I wanted a stripe study shawl for me, but never had enough fingering weight yarn for a big version. Skeinny Dipping Dark Magic Carpet and The Woolen Rabbit New England Red work so well together. It was a pairing by coincidence after the two yarns sat next to each other on my shelf. Dark magic carpet was already used for one mitten that did not fit and I had no mojo to restart on it again.

What's there to say about this knit? Stripes, garter stitch, short rows. It's very addictive. And I kept wondering where's the half point of my shawl and whether I had already reached it. I kept weighing my CC to know if there's enough yarn for yet another stripe until it was clear there would not be enough. Then it was time to return to MC, knit knit knit and BO.
