FOs coming up

This is a quick post to show that there are quite a few FO pictures coming up. Now I'm off to enjoy the sunny day with my sister.

back with an FO

I've been away again for a bit, sort of a family reunion (yet another wedding). It was actually nice seeing everybody. And even though the weather did not mean it that well this time, we enjoyed ourselves.

This is a shawl I was knitting whilst travelling New England. Initially I bought the yarn (Spud & Chloe Fine in Calypso colourway) 'coz I thought of knitting some socks. However, I read on Ravelry that it doesn't wear that well and, hell, it's got 20% silk in it! So, it had to be a shawl. I did not follow any pattern this time, used 4mm (US 6) circulars and was inspired by the cloudless skies. I think I could have done another few repeats of the edging pattern to make it just a bit more prominent. Though, all in all I'm glad with the result.

there's a knitter in every one of us

Yes, that's Seymour Skinner.

Happy WWKIP2010 day (whenever it may be for you)!

As I again cannot fall asleep at the ECT time, I spent the night reading, knitting and sorting my pictures.
These are some iphone pictures from the trip. First up is one cute big caterpillar. And a rather tasty one. I could not just kill the mouth with the two cute eyes staring at me. I love sushi and this was the cutest roll ever.

And below is one greedy little fellow we spotted in Boston who is dragging half of an apple to a hiding place, which appeared to be a branch up in the tree. The apple did not fell down (!) and once it was securely placed, the little fellow went out hunting again. (click to enlarge)

should I start crochetting now?

OK, the below is not convincing me to do so...

Neither does Cate Blanchet in this questionable dress-version.

But if anyone can revive it, then Kate Olsen seems to be the one. Weirdly, it feels wrong to actually want to own this and I'm sure I can wait this urge to crochet out...

P.S. All pics reposted from here.

a site worth knowing; and a growing stash

First of all, thank you for all the nice comments. Sometimes, the blogger makes it hard to find out everybody's email addresses and respond directly. Each note is truly appreciated.

While travelling I constantly checked out knitmap for yarn stores nearby. It is a very useful site that my knit buddy Christine told me about. Go check it out and in case your favourite LYS is not yet on it, please add it. Travellers like me would love to know which way to head.

And since you asked for it: The below picture is yarn acquired during the trip. Oh so yummy! Some is already knitted up into a shawl that still needs blocking. The rest is awaiting their turn.

Surprisingly, blue is clearly dominating. I kept restraining myself from bying yet another red shade.

fighting the jetlag

As it is still hard to get back into the normal rythm, I spent this night sorting my travel pictures and chose some to share with you.
The weather was fantastic (as you can tell), only in Boston did we have some shower rains, which were in fact very awaited. The food was delicious and in general, this was a far better trip than we expected. :)
I'll spare you the pictures of all the yarn I got. This indeed turned into a yarn tour for me.
